Purrfurrence Ring of Fire

Triple Grand Champion Alter Purrfurrence Cameo

DREAM KITTEN

On Sunday night not long ago,
Returning from another show,
Thinking things over as I drove,
What went wrong I’d like to know.

Very early in the morning,
I should have bathed her once again.
I should have groomed her one more time
Before my ring began.

Another swipe around the eyes,
A bit more brushing ‘round the thighs,
One last tweak of furry cheek,
And would she then a winner be?

She looked great the night before,
Her flaws just weren’t that bad.
But up against that top show cat,
She looked out of place and sad.

Shorter legs?  A longer coat?
Are these the things she needs the most?
A rounder head?  Bigger eyes?
Or were her judges mean and blind?

About her weight -- not so good.
Perhaps I’ll try a different food.
A healthy mixture I’ll contrive,
And she’ll be perfect for next time.

The cats that beat me must be sweeter,
Fatter, shorter, rounder, neater.
She was cute, but they were stronger.
I wish her body were less longer.

I dearly love my little loser,
But now conclude I cannot use her.
So I drive and dream of my next litter,
Wherein might be a perfect kitten.
